Good practices and recommendations for the inclusion of persons with deafblindness

 – by Sanja Tarczay, President of WFDB

Sanja Tarczay gives a presentation of the status of persons with deafblindness worldwide supported by some numbers and life stories that are shown in the recent WFDB Second Global Report 2023. She gives international examples of good practices of empowerment seen from her own perspective of being a deafblind president of both national and international organisations (Dodir and WFDB).

Empowerment in relation to both congenital and acquired deafblindness

– by the Deafblind Association of Slovenia DLAN and the Specialist Consultancy of the Deafblind

As professionals working with deafblindness, one of the most important aspects of our work is to empower people with deafblindness and let them contribute to society. Giving people with deafblindness a voice and a feeling of being valuable in the eyes of others. Using examples and pictures we want to highlight how this can be done in Denmark and Slovenia respectively.

The outcomes of cultural exchange

– by the Deafblind Association of Slovenia DLAN and the Specialist Consultancy of the Deafblind

Today’s presentations are part of a cross-cultural project between Denmark and Slovenia that is coming to a close soon. Did the project live up to the expectations that we had? Both organisations will during this talk reflect on what we have achieved from this cross-cultural exchange? Perhaps this project can be a starting point and pave the way for future collaborations between other countries even?
